Legal and Compliance Manager (Remote 🌎, +3/-3 CET hours)

We’ve got an exciting opportunity for a strong legal and compliance professional able to provide day to day support for Pento, including guidance on a wide range of matters. You'll support our mission by providing subject matter advice and guidance, and have the opportunity to work with both the commercial and engineering sides of the business on subjects as varied as information security, to employment law, to commercial negotiations. We know this is a broad role, so you'll be supported by external legal counsel to support on specialised matters, as well as being supported by the wider Pento team.

The role 🎒

Corporate and Commercial legal

  • Oversee delivery of external legal services and resources;
  • Draft & review policies and procedures;
  • Oversee and coordinate Pento’s legal requirements as required and negotiate T&Cs and business agreements;
  • Maintain our internal record management;
  • Assist with employment law matters, as and when required;
  • Negotiate and maintain all relevant insurance policies.

Compliance - Regulatory oversight

  • Implement suitable, risk-based, stage-appropriate compliance controls for new and existing business initiatives;
  • Develop and refine our processes and procedures to ensure all legal and regulatory obligations are met, including GDPR compliance, acting as our DPO, and processing out relevant statutory filings;
  • Keep up to date with the relevant laws and regulatory guidelines in the UK and beyond;
  • Work with Engineering & Product to develop, implement and manage Pento's data privacy control programmes;
  • Support compliance testing, internal or external audits and regulatory exams and inquiries;
  • Represent the company to customers, auditors, suppliers, and any other bodies in connection with regulatory requirements.

The role will be a great fit if... ✨

  • You have a few years’ previous experience in a legal and/or compliance role;
  • You’ll bring a commercial perspective, managing our risks in a way that allows Pento to continue to be agile, move fast, and drive great commercial and product outcomes;
  • You’ve got a good working knowledge of GDPR and data privacy;
  • You can distill complex issues into actionable advice for people in all areas of the business;
  • You’re comfortable negotiating with external parties;
  • You’re excited to get involved in a broad spectrum of work with stakeholders at all levels - it won’t always be glamorous, but as our first Legal & Compliance hire, you’ll have the opportunity to help build a great foundation for Pento to grow from.
