Payroll Advisory and Guidance Lead (Remote 🌎, +3/-3 CET hours)

We’re looking for a Payroll Advisory and Guidance Lead to build an expert-led payroll advisory function and team, tasked with providing the highest level of complex advice and support to our customers. You will report to our Head of Payroll (Emily Palmer) and work closely with our Quality and Payroll Compliance Lead, our Head of Customer Support, and our broader Customer Success teams.

The role 🎒

  • You’ll work closely with our Head of Customer Support to ensure that our tiered support model is the best it can be by assisting with the identification of continual service improvement items, helping to improve the quality of service provided and the efficiency of processes within the Service Desk.
  • You’ll lead efforts to hire and develop an Advisory team, in-line with company growth — setting stretch objectives, hosting regular 1-1s, and proactively addressing team training needs.
  • Being a ‘hands-on’ manager, you will be responsible for managing your team’s workload as well as personally providing well-informed guidance on complex calculations/queries to our customers.
  • As an industry expert, you’ll troubleshoot complex issues, ensure service requests and incidents are managed in accordance with service level targets, and technical issues reported to the Quality Lead to ensure resolution.
  • Working with our Knowledge and Content Manager (who will be one of your direct reports), you’ll manage the creation of a self service ‘knowledge base’ to be accessed by our customers and internal team (an online library filled with guides, tutorials, and answers to common customer questions about Pento’s products or services).
  • You’ll assist with maintenance and creating articles within our knowledge base.
  • You’ll become a master of our assessment and training software (ACT), used to identify training needs.
  • Working alongside the Head of Payroll and Enablement Manager (who will be one of your direct reports), you will help to assist with the creation of an onboarding programme and the continuous up-skilling of our wider teams.
  • You will work closely with other departments to provide payroll knowledge and expertise as and when required. This could include sitting in on Sales calls, Q&A sessions with our customers, and/or attending various promotional opportunities.

The role will be a great fit if... ✨

  • You’re minimum Level 5 CIPP qualified or similar.
  • You have experience of providing payroll advice and/or training.
  • You have experience of managing a small team.
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in a Senior Payroll position.
  • You’re personable, with exceptionally strong English verbal and written skills.
